Visual language skills are used all around us in the world. Most people don’t realise the amount of careful thinking, planning, tools and techniques used to create or understand a good visual text.
Have you ever seen a really clever poster that made you laugh? Then the image is making use of visual language skills to get your attention.
We can all learn the techniques to communicate better using visual texts.
What you’ll learn
In Year 9 Visual Language Skills, you’ll learn how to:
- what visual language skills are, understand why they are important and who might use them
- about static images and how to ‘read’ static images
- how to recognise different types of static images, what they are used for and ways to create them
- how to understand and demonstrate the use of key techniques of composition for designing static images
- about film and how to make a film, including the process of how to plan, film, edit and evaluate
- different film techniques and features to make a film.
