What you'll learn
This resource covers the things you need to know and be able to do for the NCEA Level 2 Achievement Standard 91164 (Chemistry 2.4) Demonstrate understanding of bonding, structure, properties and energy changes.
What you'll learn
In this resource you’ll learn to:
- Determine the structure of atoms, ions and molecules and the attractive forces between them
- Describe bonding using Lewis structures
- Predict polarity of molecules from bond polarity and shape
- Use polar solvents – water and ethanol; non-polar hydrocarbon solvents (e.g. hexane, cyclohexane, mineral turpentine)
- Describe molecular, ionic, metallic and covalent network substances, and their physical properties
- Classify reactions as exothermic or endothermic
- Determine enthalpy changes
- Determine bond energies and how to calculate bond energy calculations.
LearnWell Digital resources put the learner at the centre. Using almost any device, students can easily work at a pace that suits them through interactive, scaffolded learning and activities.
