Statistics is a part of mathematics that is all about collecting, studying and finding meaning in data (information). Every day, you use statistics whether you realise it or not! Other people also collect and use data about you. Every time you search something on the internet, click on a link or watch a video on social media, someone uses that information.
Learning how to use statistics for yourself, as well as figuring out whether the statistics other people are using are true or not, is important for many areas of your life.
What you'll learn
This course is broken into three sections.
1. Statistical investigation
In this section you'll become a data detective‚ by carrying out an investigation. An investigation is a process of carefully looking at all the facts about something in order to learn the truth. You'll learn how to collect, organise and interpret data‚ (information) to answer statistical questions.
2. Statistical literacy
In this section you'll figure out whether the statistics other people are using are true or misleading. You'll also learn how to ask great questions to help you decide whether the statistics people are using are suitable.
3. Probability
